Meet the Magnificent Melanin Misses Mentors

  • LaShunda Lane-Glasgow: President

LaShunda Lane-Glasgow was born and raised in the Midwest. My husband and I started out as teenage parents, and we've been married since 2002. We have one child. A firm believer that no matter what circumstances you face, you can change them. As a teenager, the odds were stacked against me when I found out I was pregnant—deciding not to give up. I continued to push forward. I refused to let my current situation dictate my future. I went on to graduate from Hickman High School in 1995.

In 2008 I graduated from Columbia College with a B.A. in Sociology. I have a passion for teaching and learning. I worked for the Columbia Public School system with special needs children from 1998-2005.

In 2005 I opened, A Galaxy of Stars Child Care Center, which I currently own and operate. In 2014 I self-published my first fiction novel, and in 2020 I self-published my second novel.

Lashunda wears various hats: wife, mother, author, and small business owner. No matter which hat she wears, she gives it her all. In previous years I worked hard to prove others wrong. I now know whatever I choose to do in life, I must do it for myself and not let others doubt be my motivation. In my spare time, I tutor adults to help them obtain their HiSet. I enjoy reading and spending time with family and friends.
